I can be a resource, too!

I spent the morning presenting a workshop to a class of local high school seniors in Tallahassee (they were SO awesome and energetic!). Doing so set me to thinking "I wonder if the people that read my blog have any specific questions that I may be able to help out with?" So I wanted to ask what questions you have. I can promise I won't have all the answers, but I will try and help you find a few resources!

  1. Do you have some suggestions for parents, teachers, school counselors, youth workers, etc., for how to help high school students who are interested in college but would be first generation students on how to successfully navigate that transition?

    1. I have found one web-site to get us started. It is the First In the Family: Your High-School Years web-page and can be found at www.firstinthefamily.org. This is a project of What Kids Can Do, and is aimed at providing information to first-gens and their college advisors. There are helpful checklists, links and other downloads available from the site that I have found to be very useful! Stay tuned to my next blog to read some helpful hints to finding reliable resources!
